The Genovese Flagship Blend

Aside from the Barista and his capabilities, the difference in producing the best in a cup of coffee is in the blending and roasting, which take years to master. The coffee blender must intimately know the characteristics of each batch of beans that go into the blend and how the different beans react with each other. The body, sweetness, tang, strength, and dryness of the coffee, when it is drunk, can vary dramatically between  different batches of the same blend. The Genovese Super Brazil blend combines the best of these characteristics to make an espresso coffee that resembles the Italian Style of the early 1950s. It is a marriage of traditional Italian blending techniques with the ever demanding Australian Palate.

However, the blend has evolved to satisfy the Australian market’s desire to drink “milky” coffee. The important thing in this evolution though, was that the family identified the need to maintain an emphasis on good espresso (short black), whilst also producing a coffee that doesn’t lose its body, strength, and sweetness when milk is added. In all, Super Brazil is a blend that makes a great coffee regardless of the style.

All of our knowledge and expertise is put towards the Super Brazil blend. It is a blend of coffee that combines high quality, carefully selected beans from up to 14 different origins. These origins are some of the finest growing regions of the world, including Brazil, Colombia, Costa-Rica, Guatemala, Peru, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, New Guinea, India, and Indonesia. Every one of these countries has numerous types and qualities of beans available. The Genovese family personally selects the beans using strict selection criteria that are applied to each and every batch of coffee that arrives into our warehouse.

Subsequently each type of bean is individually roasted to reach its optimum in flavour and aroma. Our blends are then created using the family recipe that has evolved over the years, and each batch is taste tested for quality. The blends will only arrive to you once they have been approved, which is done by our tasting panel consisting of up to three Genovese family members.
